Bridgewater helped established a critical U.S. relationship with Nelson Mandela and the African National Congress and served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Republic of Ghana and Jamaica. She is the author of "Neutral on Nothing: The Social Activism of the Rev. Dr. B H. Hester" and is currently working on her own personal memoirs.
